My precious Mother Elizabeth at 87 years old wrote a book Protected by My Own Personal Angel about what she remembers about her life. She dedicated it to her husband Gene Goodman “You traveled a lot of this life with me” “My Soul mate who is now waiting for me in heaven.”
Gene and Elizabeth went to Central High School and Elizabeth graduated in 1946 but Gene dropped out to go to the War.
It was God’s providence that Gene and Elizabeth got together. Elizabeth worked at White way Laundry in Edgehill. Gene drove a Goodman’s bakery delivery truck. When the city bus would get to White way laundry most of the time it would be completely full. Elizabeth would sit for hours and hours waiting on a bus to take her home. Gene saw Elizabeth on bus stop every time he passed. One day he invited to take her home. It wasn’t long that Gene asked Elizabeth for a date, but 2-week later World War 2 was declared. Gene wanted to marry Elizabeth, but she told him that She was not going to marry a sailor who would have a girl in every port in South Pacific. Gene wrote regular to Elizabeth, and they were married on July 3, 1947.
Elizabeth decorated cakes 20 years at Goodman’s bakery and worked at Becker’s Bakery for 29 years making the most beautiful wedding cakes and no telling how many cupcakes and birthday cakes.
Most of all Elizabeth loved her family. Christmas and all holidays were a special time in the Goodman house. Good fun, good eats, and very special good times. You always knew when you went thru the front door there was abundance love inside those arms. Elizabeth loved her girls and their families.
