Frances Lambert Ridge

Frances Lambert Ridge, 92, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of profound love and transformation. She was a strong, articulate, and compassionate woman who dedicated her life to helping others and touching the lives of all who knew her. She did this not only through her 40-year career of teaching and education administration in the Metro Nashville Schools, but as an integral light in the nursery and Sunday school at First Lutheran Church for over 50 years. She expanded and shared this love for shaping future generations as a foundational member of Alpha Delta Kappa honorary teacher sorority for nearly 70 years.

Born on August 22nd, 1934, in Nashville, TN, Frances dedicated her life to lifting and nurturing others. As a lifelong educator and teacher, she did not just instruct; she changed the lives of countless students, neighbors, and friends with her wisdom, patience, and generosity. To our family, she was more than a godmother, she was a second mother in every sense that mattered, a grandmother, a confidante, and the bedrock of our family. Her home and her heart were always open, offering guidance, shelter, and unconditional love to everyone who crossed her threshold. No one left her company as a stranger.

She is survived by her devoted godchildren Chris Cox (Amanda) and Elizabeth McMackin (John); and their children, Kathryn Cox, William Cox, Hannah McMackin, Dylan McMackin, and Jacob McMackin; and a community of friends and former students who will forever carry her lessons and love. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hiram and Gladys (Mocker) Ridge, and her sister, Elise Ridge Davidson.

A visitation and service will be held on Saturday, September 19th, 2026, from 12:00 -2:00 PM at First Lutheran Church, 113 8th Ave S, Nashville, TN. Interment will immediately follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Nashville, where she will be laid to rest alongside her mother and father. If you wish to honor Frances, floral arrangements or donations to First Lutheran are equally appreciated.
