Fred Thompson, age 90, of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, passed away on September 22, 2026. He was born on July 17, 1936. He was born and raised in Woodbine/Nashville, Tennessee, where he graduated from Central High School. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Marines.
Fred was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Katherine Thompson.
Fred enjoyed a long and successful career as a pharmaceutical sales representative, working with Tennessee Wholesale Drug and Berry Wholesale Drug Company.
Fred had a passion for golf, hunting, and fishing. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and creating cherished memories with his family and friends. He was always joking and making everyone laugh.
He is survived by his children, Cathy Rogers (Mike) and Larry Sorrell; grandchildren, Cary Hunt; Tracy Wilson; Chris Rogers; and Erica Ates; and Chelsea Sorrell; six great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren; sister, Emily Loewen (Don); and his beloved nephew, Paul Decker Jr. (Jackie). He was also preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette Thomspon; stepson, Kenneth Sorrell and six of his siblings, Gene Thompson; Thomas William Thompson; Donald Thompson; Betty Decker; Sara Berrentine; and Polly Rowland.
Fred will be dearly missed by his family and friends. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204, on September 26, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
A Graveside Service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204, US, on September 26, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
