Mrs. Freda Hart Clayton Acuff, 98, of Nashville, passed away, September 23, 2018. Mrs. Acuff was born in Fullerton, LA to the late Fred and Grady Hart Clayton. She was a graduate of David Lipscomb High School and College. Mrs. Acuff was a member of Granny White Church of Christ and while living at her lake paradise, she was a member of Mt. Juliet Church of Christ.
Mrs. Acuff’s main focus in life was her love and care for her family. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing, traveling, reading and playing cards. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed entertaining, and treasured time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Acuff was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John E. Acuff, Jr. who cherished her and took very good care of her; her parents; Fred & Grady Hart Clayton; sisters, Jolynn Wakefield, Rosemary Taylor McMeen and Mattinel Cooper. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Ryan of Memphis, and Judy (Bill) Staggs of Nashville; Granddaughters, Elizabeth Ryan (Ben) Nearn, Erin Ryan (Scott) Caldwell both of Memphis, Amy Staggs (Ty) Draper of Franklin, TN Susan Staggs (Jeremy) Vos of Iowa City, IA and Nancy Staggs of New Orleans, LA; great-grandchildren; Anna Kate Nearn, Clayton Nearn, Miller Caldwell, Eliza Caldwell, Hadley Draper, John Draper, Claire Vos and Emily Vos.
Visitation Thursday September 27, 2018 from Noon until one o’clock in the afternoon at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Funeral will begin at one o’clock in Woodlawn's Dignity Hall. Burial is private.
