It can’t be 5 years since Britt passed away. Britt and I grew up together in Brownfield, Texas, during the 50’s and 60’s. Then lost contact, but was able to reconnect 3 or 4 years before his death. We talked at least monthly up until his death and I sure miss those conversations. I remember when Britt hurt his right thigh in High School that prevented him from playing the game of Basketball, which he truly loved. He moved fluidly with the ball and had a beautiful shot. Coach Pounds was a great teacher and a friend , I had him when I was at Ewing Park and had the pleasure to run track for him. Once I got to WCHS I had him again for U.S. History and again for World History. he was one of=f my favorite Teachers , He will be missed , but I'am glad to have had the honor to have him as strong instrument in my life , Rest In Peace Couch Pounds , ( Texas Long Horns )

Britt was my father in law.  I am touched by reading all the positive comments from all those he influenced over the years as a teacher, coach, Principal, friend and father.  He loved coaching/mentoring in the Whites Creek community.  I was blessed to have the best father in law anyone could have.  Love you and miss you

Coach Pounds was my teacher and principal within 3 years. His World History class was the highlight of my day! He also convinced my parents to pay for my subscription to Newsweek magazine. He loved his family and I remember how excited he was about his children's bar mitzvah. He was a treasure to the WCHS c/o 1995 family and will be missed

Coach pounds wasn't just a great coach, he was a great person as well as a great assistant principal! He will be greatly missed by all of the Wchs family! You all have my deepest condolences and sympathy extended to u all! May God bless you and keep you, this is my prayer!

The family of Coach Britt Pounds has my sincere condolences. I remember him with great fondness.  May God grace grant you peace and comfort you need.

Mr. Pounds was my Civics teacher at Highland Heights Junior High School in 9th grade.  I remember his sense of humor and inspiring us to be all we could be.  He also spent an abundance of his time coaching and assisting with our play productions and speech contests.  He has left a legacy of compassion for his students. As I sit here in disbelief and tears to just find out that my friend , my Coach, my principal and one of my favorite people in the world is gone and I didn't get to say goodbye. He was such an amazing and awesome person. There was no such thing as a bad day when he was around. To the family, you probably would never know what he truly meant to the students of WCHS. I know I probably got on Zach nerves telling him everyday how much I loved his dad and how much he meant to me. My prayers go out to you all. I understand that heaven needed their angel back. RIP!

Coach Pounds was one of the few of my favorite teachers.  There are not enough words to express how much he helped me navigate through highschool. Heaven got a cool angel this time.

I will forever be grateful for the lessons you taught me as a student, the most important ones being to "never be afraid to try & never quit"! You cared for us and if that meant showing tough love then so be it, whatever it took I can say with confidence we all appreciated You for it! My love for History was nurtured by you and to this day I share the things that I've learned with my children! You were truly an exceptional person and a wonderful teacher... you will be missed! I offer my condolences and prayers to your family and friends, may God Comfort and Keep you all during this difficult time. Rest in Heaven Coach!

Coach Pounds thank you so much for being a beacon of light in my life. As a effective History teacher and Basketball Coach, I recall countless tough life lessons and times you were able to inspire, encourage, and motivate each one of us "to go where there isn't a path and leave a trail." Because of your gracious and compassionate love for all students at Whites Creek, we were able to learn many History lessons and life lessons to be who we are today. I was fortunate to connect with you on last year and it was the best. Rest in peace now Coach no more sickness and now take your place in heaven. Coach it's been years since I've talked to you.  I was just laughing the other day about the time you gave Andre J. Neil P. and me a paddling. Thank you for the talks about life and how to be young men. Thanks to the best coach I ever had. RIH Coach you will be missed but never forgotten.

Coach Pounds had a very positive  impact on my life during my time at Ewing Park and Whites Creek.  His teachings will always be a part of me.  My heartfelt condolences to the family.

I am just now hearing of Coach Pounds passing and I am devastated.  Coach Pounds was my "Favorite" teacher at Ewing Park (World History). I recall making a grade on a test that Coach was not pleased with and he looked at me over the rims of his glasses and informed me that, "I will be re-taking that test again and I will make a better grade."  You better believe my score was much higher.  He had a way of bringing out the best in you.

I'm lost for words.. Coach Pounds was my favorite teacher. He has instrumental in my life. He believed in me. That's why I graduated with a History degree from Tennessee State University. I'm forever grateful to Coach Pounds. He will be missed. My deepest condolences..
