Gary Jack Roberts Jr., 53 years old, of Brentwood, TN, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2020. Gary was born on September 29, 1966, the son of Gary Jack Roberts Sr. and Judith Lee Kilgo Roberts. Following college, he pursued numerous entrepreneurial endeavors that ultimately led him into an 18-year career with HealthMarkets, where he was a Territory Vice President. Gary was a dedicated mentor and leader to his colleagues and coworkers. He loved his career, his education, and most importantly the people he met along the way. Gary fully represented the expression “larger than life.” He loved deeply, gave generously, and lived every moment to the fullest. He was known for his big smile, bear hugs, powerful voice, and big “Roll Tides”. Among his other hobbies, he found pure joy in watching Alabama football, travelling the world with his wife, and spending time on Old Hickory Lake with his family and friends. He devoted his life to providing for his wife and children, while enjoying as much time as possible with his four sons. He was a true family man. Gary’s legacy will carry on through his warming smile, his tremendous love for the people in his life, and countless cherished memories. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, services for Gary will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Gary was an amazing man and leader of others. HealthMarkets certainly lost a huge presence and driving force, but I know those that he inspired will continue with the things he taught them and honor his legacy.

I truly enjoyed every moment I got to spend around him. He was definitely larger than life and always energized and entertained those in his presence. Being a life long Sooner fan, I couldn't even get mad at Gary when he gave me grief about that. In his honor, I will even say "Roll Tide"!

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the family. Deepest sympathy and condolences as you deal with the loss of a great man.

While words cannot express the sense of loss for Gary's family and the HealthMarkets family, I want to say he was an amazing guy, always a smile on his face, and a laugh about something. You always knew where you stood with Gary or how he felt about something. As the head of HR at HealthMarkets, need less to say, Gary and I had many conversations and I appreciated his trust in me to have those conversations. As they say, the good, the bad, the ugly. When I was leaving the company last June, I was very sad to leave behind all the friends I made, and Gary was definitely one of them. We also had the Bama connection as my son went there as well. Gary, may you rest in peace. Roll Tide!

I meet Gary over 20 years ago when we were both young men starting out with Cornerstone in the insurance business. We went on many trips, excursions, and business meetings together. He was always very kind to me. I’ve known Gary for a long time and even though we haven’t seen each other a lot lately, I will miss seeing him at our company gatherings.
My family sends his wife and family prayers and sincere condolences. Rest In Peace, my old friend. You will never be forgotten.🙏🏻💙
