Gay Murchisan Hurt

Gay M. Hurt was born in Viola, Tennessee on February 22, 1927. She was a graduate of Isaac Litton High School and George Peabody College for Teachers. She met her future husband, Dr. Joseph Edward Hurt and they were married in 1950. They shared a very loving relationship for 64 years. She was not only a loving wife but also a wonderful mother. She taught elementary school education in Memphis, TN and later at Tarbox Elementary in Nashville, TN. Gay was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, David Campbell and Cecil Murchison and her brother, John Murchison. Gay is survived by her son, Edward R. (Randy) Hurt (Joan C.), daughter, Jayne Bellows (Randy); grandsons, Carter and Ethan Hurt; sisters, Camille Demonbreun (Jerry), Betty West (Charles), Ruth Edwards (Paul) and numerous nieces and nephews who were special in her heart. She will be truly missed by her family and many friends whose lives she touched. Visitation will be held from six o' clock in the evening until eight on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Private Interment.
