A graduate of Lipscomb High school, Gene was the first male cheerleader in Nashville and went on to graduate from Vanderbilt University's School of Engineering. He started his career traveling with GM, then went on to a thirty-five-year career as a transportation specialist.
The second son of James T. and Lillian Whitmore Baker, Gene is preceded by his beloved parents. He is survived by his wife, Victoria Baker, daughters Beth Baker, Lisa (Tom) Brandon, and Nicole (Josh) Quellhorst, and sons, Gene Arvin (Roxie) Baker Jr., Edward Lee (Beverly) Baker, Mark Beaulieu and Steve (Megan) Beaulieu.
thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and his brothers James T. Baker Jr. and Ronald Wayne Baker.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, June 14, 2021 from four to seven o'clock in the evening. at Mt. Olivet Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at eleven in the morning on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service.
