Survived by daughter, Harriet F. Hammons, and son, George Wesley (Wes) Head, Jr. Also, survived by grandchildren, Eric Gambill, Amanda Gambill, Kathryn Finn, Chelsea Head, and George Head, III, as well as 6 great-grandchildren.
G.W. led a very active life. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He attended and played basketball for David Lipscomb College. G.W. served as an elder for both Central Church of Christ and Hillsboro Church of Christ. He was a private pilot and charter member of the 21st Century Flying Club at Berry field. While working as a Financial Advisor for J.C. Bradford and Co., he rose to partner level and, during one year, led all producers. G.W. was an avid golfer as a member of Brentwood County Club. In later years, he impressed other golfers with his ability to hit the ball squarely while suffering from Parkinson’s tremors. G.W. and Maxine were both very generous with their money and time, especially in the case of helping young people with encouragement, advice and, at times, a place to live.
His family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Brookdale of Franklin, Maristone of Franklin and Gentiva Hospice for loving him and making him feel special during his last years, months and days.
