

George Robert McIntosh, age 89, passed away on July 8, 2015 at Lakeshore-The Meadows in Nashville. Mr. McIntosh was born December 20, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to the late John M. and Kathryn B. McIntosh. He is preceded in death by his late wife, Martha A. McIntosh. George honorably served as Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 63rd Division. He was awarded both the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He retired as Senior Vice-President of American General Insurance after forty years of service. He had a special love for tennis, basketball, and hunting. He was inducted into the Lipscomb University Hall of Fame in 1988 as a result of his athletic abilities. Following his retirement, he served as Head Coach for the Women’s and Men’s Tennis team at Lipscomb University from 1994 to 2000. In addition, he officiated high school and college basketball for 20 years. He is survived by his wife Sue McIntosh; a daughter, M. Linda Sanders; a son, John R. McIntosh; four grandchildren, Melissa Harmon (Chris), Trey Sanders (Missy), Shelly Routh (Lee), R. Tyler McIntosh (Kristen); and four great grandchildren, Carter Lee Harmon, Taylor Collins, Jay Collins, Nicholas White, and Ari Kazer. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at three o’clock in the afternoon at Brentwood Hills Church of Christ. Visitation will take place prior to the service from one o’clock until service time at three.
