Frank was born in Nashville on December 27, 1944, the son of George C. and Gertrude Ryan. He attended David Lipscomb, graduating high school in 1962 and college in 1966. He then entered the U.S. Navy and graduated #1 in his boot camp class of 1,700 sailors. He then graduated from Officer Candidate School in 1968, and served as a communications officer aboard the USS Mazama in the Tonkin Gulf off Vietnam.
He married Myrna Jones on December 22, 1967. They returned to Nashville in 1970 where began his career in accounting working for the Ingram Corporation. He passed his CPA exam in 1973 and has worked as a certified public accountant in private practice ever since; for the last 20 years in partnership with Ted Burkhalter.
He was as a deacon at Crieve Hall Church of Christ serving on the mission committee for many years. He and Myrna have been members of Brentwood Hills Church of Christ for the last 17 years. He was dedicated to the Nashville Inner City Ministry and served on its board of directors until the time of his passing.
He is survived by his wife Myrna of 52 years, his son Greg Ryan, and daughter Jenni (and Mark) Whitefield, grandchildren Bailey, Bennett, and Ryan Grace Whitefield, and brother Don C. Ryan.
There will be a celebration of life service at a later date.
