

Georgiana Jane Post McClenaghan – age 85. Died December 24, 2011 at her home in Nashville, Tennessee. Born January 2nd, 1926 in Portland, Oregon, she is preceded in death by her father, George Morrison Post; mother, Eliza Marsten Ryan Post; brother, Hanford Post; son, Thomas Stephen McClenaghan; and daughter, Sara Ann McClenaghan Lowes. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Robert Smith McClenaghan; son, Christopher Robert McClenaghan; daughter, Eliza Jane McClenaghan (Frank David Moruzzi); daughter-in-law, Jamie Jolene Bailey (formerly Jolene McClenaghan) (Andrew Bailey); son-in-law, Mark Edwin Lowes; grandchildren, Steven McClenaghan (Laura Andrijeski McClenaghan), Daniel McClenaghan, Sara Lowes, Alexander McClenaghan, Matthew Lowes, and Cassandra McClenaghan; great-grandchild Wesley McClenaghan; and sister-in-law Mary Lou McClenaghan. Georgiana graduated from Oregon State University in June 1947 and received a Master of Library Science degree (1971) and an Education Specialist degree (1983) from Peabody College. Robert and Georgiana married on March 27,1948 and raised four children. A caring mother, she was active in her children’s activities including scouting as a Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout Troop Leader. She worked in public education until age 74, notably as an elementary school teacher in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and as a librarian in Franklin, Tennessee. She was an active member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority, the Order of the Daughters of the King and Christ Church Cathedral. She loved literature, traveling and cats. As a storyteller and miniature enthusiast, no detail was too small or insignificant. She shared her passions for cooking, baking and genealogy with her children and grandchildren. A perfectionist in her penmanship, she remembered all with beautifully written cards and letters. Her endearing ability to make everyone feel valued and appreciated will be missed by all. Memorial services will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, Nashville, Tennessee, at a time and date to be determined. Interment will occur in River View Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
