Gerald R. Joines

Gerald (Jerry) Ray Joines, age 82, of Mt. Juliet, TN, passed away on August 18, 2024. Born on March 26, 1942, in Portland, TN, Jerry was the beloved son of the late Effie Irene (Getting) Joines and Thomas Raymond Joines.

Jerry was a proud graduate of Hume Fogg High School in Nashville, TN. He spent 32 dedicated years working for UPS, where he retired as a manager. Jerry's legacy is marked by his unwavering commitment to hard work and his profound love for his family.

On April 18, 1981, Jerry married the love of his life, Judy (Owen) Joines, in Springfield, TN. Together, they built a life rich in joy and mutual devotion. Jerry was an avid traveler and enjoyed boating, spending time with his family, and working in the yard. His beloved dogs, CoCo and Jack, were always by his side, and he found great pleasure in watching westerns.

Jerry was an active member of the American Legion Post 88, where he contributed to the community and found camaraderie with fellow veterans.

In addition to his wife Judy, Jerry is survived by his brother Don (Linda) Joines, his sister Patsy (Don) Litchford, his sons Michael Lee (Nina) Joines and Clint Ray (Lauren) Joines, and his grandchildren Britney Joines, McKinnon Joines, and Josie Joines. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who cherished him deeply.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Effie and Thomas Joines. His memory will forever be treasured by those who knew and loved him.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Legion Post 88 in his honor.

Jerry will be remembered for his dedication to family, his love for life, and his generous spirit. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

A gathering of family & friends for Gerald will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204, followed by a graveside service from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM.
