Gilbert George Sharer

Gilbert was born in Lakewood, Ohio, on December 21, 1949, to Marjorie Ella Heeder and Russell Eugene Sharer. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Raymond Heeder. Gilbert was a loving and humble man, known for his caring nature, good sense of humor, and strength—both physically and emotionally. Though he could be a bit shy at times, those who knew him appreciated his genuine kindness and generosity.

A graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in English, Gilbert dedicated his professional life to being a Technical Writer at Murray Ohio Manufacturing Company in Brentwood, TN.

Gilbert was a man of many interests. As a young man, he was an accomplished athlete, playing football, track, basketball, and baseball in high school. Throughout his life, he enjoyed the companionship of his family and friends, always making time for the people he loved. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church and enjoyed a peaceful life with his family by his side.

He is survived by his brother, Kenneth Sharer; sisters, Kathy O’Connor and Connie Phillips; daughters, Bonne Macarthur and Ammi Hall; and his cherished grandsons, Nathaniel, Mike, and Ben.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Ella Heeder; father, Russell Eugene Sharer; and stepfather, Raymond Heeder.

The graveside service on February 4, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, located at 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN 37204.

His presence will be missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
