

Gladys Elizabeth (Betty) Cathcart, 85, of Brentwood, Tennessee passed away peacefully at home on February 19, 2024. Born July 27, 1938 in Nashville, Tennessee, Betty was the youngest of three daughters born to John F. and Gladys White. She was married for 61 years to Murph T. Cathcart and selflessly devoted her life to him and raising their three daughters.
Survived by daughters Connie Cathcart-Richardson and her husband Eddy, whom she claimed as her son; Karen Russell (Paul), Columbia, SC; Christy Smith (Jason); beloved grandchildren Mclaine Richardson, Caleb Smith, Jacob Smith and Jarod Smith; sister-in-laws Peggy Bass (Pulaski, TN) and Faye Norwood (Tuscumbia, AL); adoring nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.
Betty was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Anne Frey and Regina O’Guinn and sister-in-law Delores Hardin (Pulaski,TN).
A native Nashvillian, Betty graduated from Isaac Litton High School in 1956. She worked side by side Murph in their family-run Western Auto and Cathcart Home Center until retirement. Betty was also a licensed real estate and insurance broker and briefly worked for the U.S. Postal Service. She was a member of Judson Baptist Church since 1971. Unwavering faith was her strength throughout her life.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 22 at Judson Baptist Church, 4900 Franklin Rd. from 1-3 p.m. followed by a private family graveside service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Betty’s honor.
