Mrs. Garrett graduated from Forrest High School in Chapel Hill, Tennessee. She met Lynn Garrett from Chapel Hill, Tennessee and they married on April 12, 1945 in Huntsville, Alabama. The couple made their home in Donelson, Tennessee where Mrs. Garrett was a full-time homemaker for her husband and children. She loved cooking, gardening, and social activities. She belonged to several organizations during her lifetime including various garden clubs and bridge clubs, and she received a lifetime membership in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). She was also a longtime member of Andrew Price United Methodist Church in Donelson.
Mrs. Garrett is preceded in death by her father, Kelly Paul “K.P.” Simmons; her mother, Louise Jones Simmons; a sister, Jean Hopkins Bruer; her loving husband, M. Lynn Garrett; and a son, Danny L. Garrett. She is survived by her son, Douglas Garrett (Nancy); daughter-in-law, Dana Overton-Garrett; grandchildren Kelly Bullington (Christopher), Ian McLain Garrett (Bridget), Katelynn Garrett; and great grandchildren, Bailey Bullington and Maddison Garrett.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends on Saturday, August 24, from 9:00 AM – 10:15 AM in the Nashville Suite at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville followed by a graveside service at 10:30 AM at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
