Preceded in death by his parents: Glenn and Jessie Jakes, his siblings Eloise Simms, Doris Clark, Harvell Jakes and Wayne Jakes,
Surviving siblings are: Mary Frances Jackson and Ann (Emmis) Hunter, he had countless nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. He always put his family first.
Mr. Jakes served in the U.S. Navy at Guadalcanal during WW II. After the war, he was one of the first male Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists in Tennessee.
Visitation will be at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Wednesday, July 29, 2015 followed by graveside services at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
Pallbearers: Cliff Allen, Caleb Allen, Brent Trotter, Ray Hunter, Robert Hunter and Jake Hunter.
