Grady Melvin Alcorn’s number one blessing is the unconditional love he felt for his wife Mae P. Alcorn. He frequently told the love story of seeing her for the first time in the Murfreesboro Town Square. He would always give that big grin and say, “once I saw Mae that first time, I knew I would spend my life with her.” That he did. He faithfully loved her for the next 68 years, and there is no doubt his spirit will love her for eternity. Though he had many successes in his lifetime, his greatest accomplishment is being “the best father any girl could ever wish for” to his daughter, Andrea, who loves him so much and will love her “Daddy” for eternity. His family meant the most to him, and he often would tell stories of his love for his mother, his dad and his brothers and sisters. His third passion was the farm and his faithful dog, Blackie. He spent decades on those rolling hills celebrating his love of the land, his compassion for animals, and sharing this joy with Andrea and with the many friends he made there. At one point in time, the locals jokingly called him “mayor” for his love of the farmers and friends in the area. A true entrepreneur, he was successful in business particularly at his beloved shoe stores, his decades at Ford Motor Plant and Genesco. He never missed a day of work for his entire career which spanned over fifty years. We will never forget his angelic spirit that he carried for a lifetime and his love of singing. He is survived by his wife, Mae P. Alcorn, his daughter, Andrea Lisa Alcorn, his brother, Robert and wife Peggy Alcorn, his sister Cornelia Alcorn, Darlene and Gene Patterson, and many nieces and nephews.
