Grayce Morgan Mabry, age 90, died peacefully on October 25, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her. Born in 1925, she was the daughter of Pearsal Horton Morgan and Pauline Kerr Morgan. Grayce graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1943 and later attended Draughons Business College in Nashville. She worked at the Federal Alcohol & Tobacco Tax office before she married James Newton Mabry in 1946. Grayce was accomplished at many crafts with sewing and cooking being her favorites or at least the ones we most benefited from. She was a member of Crievewood United Methodist Church where she participated in many activities as well as sang in the choir. When her daughters began college, she went back to work at the Davidson County 3rd circuit court office for 10 years and then retired to enjoy time with her retired husband Jim. They loved their many trips out west as well as to Florida. The last few weeks in rehab Grayce loved to brag to everyone that she and Jim had been married 70 years this coming January. The other joys in her life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren; she was so proud of all of them. She is survived by her husband of 69 years and the love of her life, James Newton Mabry, and daughters Pam Gracey (Hugh), Marilyn Hinton (Kem), grandchildren Sarah Schulz (Josh), Hugh Gracey (Lisa), T.J. Hinton, and great-grandchildren Ellie Schulz, Emma Schulz, Morgan Gracey, and Duke Gracey. A gathering of family and friends will be held on October 27, 2015, from three o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home and also on October 28, 2015, at Crievewood United Methodist Church one hour and thirty minutes before the service. A celebration of life will be held at Crievewood United Methodist Church at one o’clock in the afternoon with interment following at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Crievewood United Methodist Church, or Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at The Healthcare Center at West Meade Place, St. Thomas Hospital, and Alive Hospice for their compassionate care.
