Harry Roger Wolberg, Sr.

Harry Roger Wolberg, Sr. was born on August 28, 1926 in Nashville, Tennessee. Harry passed away on May 11, 2016; 3 months shy of his 90th birthday. Before his career in sales he served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific Theatre as a member of the Underwater Demolition Team (UDT). Upon completion of his military service he attended David Lipscomb as well as co-owned a service station with his brother-in-law, J. Bruce Gilman. Harry was a salesman in the highway construction industry for more than 25 years. Upon retirement he turned his hobby into a business, teaching skeet and trap shooting and assisting with the set-up of sporting clay fields all over the southeast. Some of the people he taught to shoot include Reba McEntire and the late Senator Fred Thompson. Throughout his life Harry was an avid sportsman who raced boats, hunted and fished, and could pretty much shoot anything out of the sky. Harry and Sue roller skated and “jitterbugged” throughout their youth. An accomplished shot in her own right, Sue accompanied him on plenty of hunting and skeet shooting excursions. Together they bred and raised Labrador retriever hunting dogs. Harry spent most of his life in a duck blind, skeet field, or fishing boat- that’s where he was the happiest. Preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Sue Wolberg; his parents, Alvin and Azalea Wolberg; as well as his sister, Jacqueline W. Gilman. Survived by his daughter, Jackie W. Palmer (Bill); his son, Harry Roger Wolberg, Jr. (Becky); grandsons, Adam Dean Palmer (Kayla); and Zack Wolberg. Visitation will be held from four o’ clock in the evening until eight on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at one o’ clock in the afternoon on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall with visitation one hour prior. Jackie W. and Adam Dean Palmer, Eulogists.
