Helen Marie Sharbel, age 85, passed away peacefully in her home on October 24, 2018. She was a long time resident of East Nashville and a member of Holy Name Catholic Church for 70 years. She was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nashville, Tennessee. Helen was the daughter of Herbert S. Sharbel and Zackie Wehby Sharbel, who immigrated here from Beirut, Lebanon in the early 1900s. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several of her brothers and sisters: Louis Sharble (Mary Clare), Louise Harmon (Andrew), Barbara Douglas (Harry), Margaret Del Cotto (Al), Kelly Sharbel (Margaret), Catherine Francis (Joe), Nolan Sharbel, Abraham Sharbel (Mary Jo), and Noleen Sullivan (Larry), and other beloved family members.

Ms. Sharbel is survived by her brother, Patrick Sharbel (Judy), and sisters, Lorease Stangline (Gene) and Josephine Hendry (Charles). Helen did not have any children, but she had 39 nieces and nephews that held her dear to their hearts, as well as numerous cousins and great-nieces and great-nephews. Helen attended grade school at Assumption in Nashville’s Germantown and graduated from Cathedral High School. She worked for H.G. Lipscomb Hardware in Nashville for 60 years and retired at the age of 80. Her large and loving family, friends, and neighbors were made to feel cherished and valued in her life. The family would like to express their appreciation for the exceptional care and concern shown by Alive Hospice, as well as three private health care givers (Cynthia, Angelee, and Patty), who were critical in making Helen’s last moments comfortable and peaceful as she transitioned into her next phase of life. We know Heaven just gained an angel.
