Helen is survived by her son, Kent C. Vandercook and his wife, Louise Vandercook, of LaVergne, TN. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Charles L. Vandercook, and by her brother, Richard Todd.
Helen graduated from Montpelier High School in 1950 then went to work for a law firm in Montpelier, Ohio. There she worked as a legal secretary until she accepted a position at the Wabash Cannonball Railroad as a secretary. While working there, she met her future husband, Charles Vandercook. She was raised and lived in Montpelier, OH, but moved to Nashville, TN with her husband and son in 1972. Helen worked as a secretary with Service Merchandise and TeleData and retired from Black Box, Inc., as a secretary.
Helen was a devoted wife, mother, and a generous person. She was raised from infancy by her grandmother, Clarabelle Turner Michael, of Montpelier, OH.
A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 12pm – 1pm at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will follow at 1pm in the chapel.
