Hensley Clay Williams, age 67, of Monterey, TN passed away peacefully on June 10, 2015 at his family’s retreat, The Hemlocks, located in Monterey. Clay was born April 13, 1948 in Bethesda, MD to Colonel Hensley of the USMC and Mrs. Josephine Trice Williams. After graduating from Georgia Tech with a degree in industrial engineering, Clay proudly served his country for 23 years in the USMC before retiring as Lieutenant Colonel. Clay ran countless marathons all over the world, loved orienteering, kayaking, white water rafting, caving, camping, hiking, and was always up for adventure. Keeping family history alive was also one of his many passions, which he did by chronicling and sharing his family’s genealogy. Clay is survived by his five children, Thea Marie Craft of Raleigh NC, Maxwell Clay Williams and wife Megan of Wilmington NC, Anne Williams McClure and husband Bryan of Bluffton SC, John Hensley Williams of Atlanta GA and Rachel Louise Williams of Atlanta GA, six granddaughters, Elizabeth, Sara, Charlotte, Trice, Louise and Vivienne and his brother John Overton Colton of Nashville TN, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Clay is predeceased by his parents and brother Maxwell Trice Williams. Clay was loved by many. He had a very kind, calm nature about him that we will all miss dearly. A private ceremony will take place at The Hemlocks in the near future. Donations can be made to woundedwarriorproject.org.
