Born in Malayer, Iran, on May 9, 1950 she lived an extraordinary life that spanned continents — studying in Kansas, marrying in Iran, and living in London before settling in Brentwood, Tennessee. Wherever she went, she built community and carried with her the warmth, humour, and generosity that defined her.
In Nashville she worked for many years at Vanderbilt University with Professor Terry Deal, serving as assistant, organiser, and mentor to countless students who became part of her extended family.
Homa’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her sister Kathy, her brothers Homey and Romel, her son Behdad and daughter-in-law Marijke, and her three grandchildren Alex, Noah and Layla. We will always remember her love, laughter, and irrepressible spirit.
As Rumi wrote:
“The water rained from heaven to cleanse the impure;
When it returned, it came shining and new.”
Homa’s spirit, too, has returned home, bright and renewed.
A visitation for Homa will be held Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln., Nashville, TN 37204, followed by a a celebration of life from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
