Irene Couey Flack, age 90, passed away on May 20, 2015. Preceded in death by her husband, Leldon M. Flack; parents Ed and Lottie Couey; sister, Christine Maner and brother Roy (Buddy) Couey. Irene is survived by her daughter Linda Garner and her husband Mickey of Brentwood, Tennessee; grandson Dr. Matthew Garner and his wife Lily of Mechanicsville, Maryland; sister Barbara Maples of Decatur, Alabama and several nieces and nephews. Irene was a member of Central Baptist Church in Decatur. She also was a member of the Pilot Club and the American Business Women Association. Irene retired from the Decatur Daily where she worked for 33 years. We would like to thank the residents and staff of NHC Cool Springs for their friendships, their love, and the excellent care that she received during the 6 years that she lived there. To honor and celebrate Irene’s life, there will be service on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at one o’clock in the afternoon in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall conducted by Dr. Lynn Hill. Gathering of family and friends will be on Friday May 22, 2015 from four o’clock until seven o’clock and one hour prior to the service at Woodlawn Roesch Patton Funeral Home. Interment to follow the service in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
