Jack passed away peacefully at age 90, in Jefferson City, Tennessee. He was a long time resident of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Jack was a career veteran of the United States military. He was in the United States Navy during World War II and later reenlisted in the United States Army where he served for more than 20 years until he retired in 1973. He then worked for 20 years as a special agent for the Alcoholic Beverage Commission for the State of Tennessee.
A devoted Shriner, Jack served in the Provost Guard at the Al Menah Temple, where he held the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in Nashville, Tennessee for over 59 years. Jack was dedicated to supporting the Shriners Hospital for Children, along with his brothers, they participated in many events and paper sales.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William L. and Sudie Daughtry Blackman and brother, Gene Blackman. He is survived by his wife, Betty Blackman of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; daughters, Glenda Blackman Denton and favorite Son-in-law, Paul both of Dandridge, Tennessee and Evelyn Blackman of New Market, Tennessee; sister, Edna Glyn Kopac of Goldsboro, North Carolina; nieces, Kathy (Ray) Smith and Ann Hall both of Goldsboro, North Carolina;
The family would like to mention his best friends Gordon MacDonald and his wife, Shelia, who were such an important part of his life.
A Private Graveside Service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville, Tennessee with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at a later date.
