Jack Allen Oman passed away peacefully on July 8th, 2019. Jack was born November 13, 1939 and was a long time resident of Brentwood, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents, Stirton Oman and Frances Allen Oman, and three siblings Frances Oman Brown, Betty Bond Oman Buntin and Stirton Oman, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Argie Chalfant Oman. Children, John Allen Oman, Jr. (Martha), Argie Oman McDonald (Bill) of Birmingham, Alabama. Grandchildren, Catherine Oman Hendrick (Paul), Elizabeth Oman Jasarevski (Mirza), Argie Neil McDonald, Elaine Wright McDonald, and William White McDonald, III. Great Grandchildren, Elizabeth Theodora Hendrick and James Henry Jasarevski. He is also survived by his sister Ann Oman Dorsett and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack attended Montgomery Bell Academy, University of Tennessee, Vanderbilt University, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He was president and CEO of Oman Construction Company, Inc., and co-founder of Oman Systems, Inc. Jack was a past president of the Contractors Division of the American Road and Transportation Builders Association, a past President of the Tennessee Roadbuilders Association, and a former member of YPO. He served on the boards of The Ensworth School, Belmont University, The Boys and Girls Club and Commerce Union Bank. Jack was a 32nd Degree Mason.
Jack was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Rotary Club of Nashville, Belle Meade Country Club and Royal Poinciana Golf Club (Naples, Florida).
Jack will be remembered as a true gentleman, love for his family and friends and his dry wit. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Montgomery Bell Academy, 4001 Harding Pike, Nashville, TN 37205 or Men-of-Valor prison ministry, 504 Valor Way, Antioch, TN 37013.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Cheek House with Service to follow at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church 4815 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN 37220. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
