James "Sonny" Wilson Blazer Jr.

James Wilson "Sonny" Blazer, Jr., age 94, passed away on June 10, 2019 in Nashville, TN. Sonny is preceded in death by parents, James Wilson Blazer, Sr. and Margaret Ramsey Blazer; sister, Doris Blazer Jones; and brother, Robert G. Blazer.

Sonny is survived by wife of 71 years, Marjorie S. Blazer; son, Steve Blazer (Janice); daughter, Janice Blazer Tant; grandchildren, Jennifer Leigh Ward (Tim), Michael Blazer (Lindsay), and Chris Blazer; and great-grandchildren, Brennan Ward and June Ward.

Sonny served in the 15th Army Air Force during WWII. He was also a member of the Al Menah Shrine Temple and a longtime member of Belle Meade United Methodist Church. Sonny was employed in the family business, Blazer Bros. Rug Cleaners.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. with funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Belle Meade United Methodist Church, 121 Davidson Rd. Nashville, 37205. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or the Alzheimer's Association.

I loved Sonny Blazer!!! Such a warm and likable person! Always had a smile on his face and a story to tell! And I loved to hear all his stories, even more than once!!! His beautiful and equally likable wife Margie always helped keep him in line if he got too long winded!!!
I Love this couple, so many wonderful memories of them both!!!
Sonny lived his life well and he will be sorely missed! He was a shining example of a person who enjoying living to its fullness!!!
Thank you Sonny, you did well!!
You are with the Lord now and no longer physically struggling! And I am certain that you are now light on your feet again, and dancing!!!
