James "Dave" David Gannon Sr., age 67, of Guntersville, Alabama, passed away on September 7, 2026. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on October 16, 1958, to Samuel Paul Gannon & Alma Barfield Gannon.
Dave graduated from Hume-Fogg High School. He went on to build a career as a mechanical engineer with Key Engineering in Decatur, Alabama, where he dedicated many years to his profession. He was also a proud member of the American Legion.
Dave was a man who found great joy in life and in the people around him. He loved traveling with his family, drawing, and writing poetry. Above all, he cherished his grandchildren and took great pride in spoiling them whenever he could. His love for his family was evident in the time he spent with them and the memories they created together.
He is survived by his children, James David Gannon Jr.; Angela Jarrett and her husband, Anthony; and Alexander Mena and his wife, Jessica; grandchildren, Donovan Kolbi Cole, Suzayley Marie Mena, Dallas Kameryn Cole, Dakota Kayleigh Cole, Zoe Deus Gannon, and Alexandra Marie Mena. He was also excitedly looking forward to welcoming his first great-granddaughter, Tahliyah Cole, in November.
Dave is also survived by his brother, Gary Gannon; and his sister, Janice Smith. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy Gannon and Doug Jones, and his sisters, Judy Cross and Gayle Gannon.
Dave will be remembered for his creativity, his love of family, his generous spirit, and the special joy he found in being a grandfather.
He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be treasured by all who knew and loved him.
