

James A. Mahoney, age 69 of Celebration, FL passed away December 20, 2017. Born in Atlantic City, NJ to the late Vincent & Katherine Featherstone Mahoney. Jim was a graduate of Atlantic City High School in 1968 and is a member of Bones Fraternity. He joined his father and uncle in continuing the family contracting business and went on to build and remodel many of the buildings and homes along the south New Jersey shore. He moved to Florida with his wife and daughter in 1994 and became a founding resident of The Celebration Florida community.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Marilyn G. Vickery Mahoney; Daughter, Tracy Mahoney Coffeen; Son-in-law, Jarrod Coffeen; soon to be born Granddaughter, Zara Coffeen; Neice, Patrica Mahoney Conners; Great Nephew, Christopher Conners; Brother and sister-in-law; Skipper and Belinda Boone; And many loving family members and friends that had become family.
Jim loved to work with his hands and always said he loved his work so much that he never truly worked a day in his life. He was always deep into another job or project aided by his wife, family, and the people that worked with him who quickly became part of his family. His love of people meant that he never met a stranger and could talk to anyone about anything. People loved him for his enthusiasm for his work, family, friends, and faith. He loved life and was bigger than life in many ways to those that loved him.
Memorial Services will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park on December 28th in Nashville, TN. Visitation will be from 12-1 pm to be followed by a service. In lieu of flowers please donate to The Glioblastoma Foundation.
