Mr. James Dallas McMillen Jr, 73, passed away peacefully in his home. Jim was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. All of those who had the privilege to be part of his life felt the warm glow of his undying love, gentle guidance, and proud approval. A native of Joelton, TN, Jim was raised on a farm where he undoubtedly learned his strong work ethics and went on to proudly serve in the United States Navy. Jim later became the father to five adoring children: Shellie, Jamie, Carrie, Dallas, and Caleb, which he called his best accomplishment in life.
Jim placed his faith for salvation in the completed work of Jesus Christ, and while those who survive him mourn his loss, we’re comforted to know that he is now at home in peace. In life, Jim was a hard and dedicated worker, a cheerful and generous giver, and his distinct and unmistakable laugher, something those who knew him can certainly still hear in their hearts today, are a few of the things you could always count on from him. If there was a job to be done, he would do it; if there something you needed, he would give all that he had; and no matter the circumstance, he was always good for a laugh in his deep, distinctive voice that sounded something like a bullfrog on a summer night. It seems that almost every story about Jim leaves those who hear it with a smile in their heart, and tears of laughter rolling down their cheeks. Jim was the absolute personification of a tough exterior with a soft heart of gold, and every one of us who survive him feel the vacuum of his absence.
In addition to his five children, Jim is survived by his siblings: Louise Moore, Eddie McMillen, and Anita Reynolds. He was also the grandfather to eleven grandchildren: Lauren Elizabeth (28), Ivy Sloane (26), William Alexander (24), Tori Anabella (21), Ryan Michael (20), Sophia Reese (17), Graham Lochlan (17), Cyrus Liam (17), Ellie McMillen (11), Jack McMillen (8), Sparrow Noelle (5), as well as many nieces and nephews.
