James Edward Wallace, Jr., died on June 9 after a battle with myeloma and leukemia. He is survived by his wife, Connie; children P.A. Bowler (Lisa); Michele Welch (David); dogs Sunni and Shadow; grandchildren Fletcher Bowler (Michelle); Piper Brown (Nathaniel); Alexandra Welch and Casey Welch; also second mother Bonnie Wallace, sisters, Elliott McNiel (Tom), Cindy Gillespie (Steve) and sister-in-law Sheila Leggett. He was so proud of his grandchildren and thrilled at the prospect of becoming a great grandfather this August.
During his career, he served in the Air Force; worked for Norvell and Wallace and Middle Tennessee State University. His passions included his family, his animals, Harley Davidson motorcycles, scuba diving, learning to play his guitar, listening to music and time in nature. He never met a stranger. He made everyone he met better. From his family, to MTSU, to church, to his motorcycle club he touched so many lives. His was a life well lived and he will be missed forever.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, June 17, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at McNamara’s Irish Pub. All are welcome to attend. Dress is happy, casual. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the animal shelter of your choice. The family loves Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary on Nonaville Road in Mt. Juliet.
