Born in 1953, to Thornwell Desmond Bennett and Dorothy Lea Bennett of Nashville, Jane attended Parmer Elementary School in Belle Meade, and graduated from Hillsboro High School.
For more than twenty years Jane built a remarkable career as a realtor. She became Vice President and co-owner of SilverPointe Properties and earned the Top Producer Award every year of her career. She had a gift for mentoring new agents, and had an eye for staging, designing, and transforming homes. Jane delighted in helping her clients find homes where their families could plant deep roots.
Before real estate, Jane wore many hats. First as a preschool teacher at St. B’s for many years, and then as an antique dealer at the Green Hills Antique Mall, where she sharpened her eye for quality craftsmanship. Jane spearheaded the prayer ministry at Christ Presbyterian Academy, and organized the school’s first Monday night praise and worship evenings. Behind the scenes, she put her seamstress skills to use, creating elaborate costumes with CPA’s Fine Arts department.
Above all else, Jane treasured two things: her faith in Jesus and her family. One of her greatest joys was being "Coco" to her grandchildren.
Jane was a rare combination of elegance and grit. The same woman who appreciated her hats and furs could be a tough negotiator, wrestle weeds in her garden, or wear out her knees in prayer. She often gathered to pray with friends, believing, as Scripture says, that “a cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
Jane had a true gift of hospitality, and welcomed countless people into her home, for weddings, fundraisers, and dinner parties, and she especially loved bringing people together through worship. She hosted with an unmistakable attention to detail, making any room beautiful and inviting.
Jane was preceded in death by her mother and father, Thornwell Desmond Bennett and Dorothy Lea Bennett, and her sister Claire Elizabeth Harvey. She is survived by her daughters, Christina McDonald (Dwayne) and Bonnie McDonald; her son, Robertson McDonald III; and her grandchildren, Jet Thornwell Miller, Eloise Margaret Miller, Martha Jane Miller, and Kaveh Dwayne Wilson.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Belmont Church, 68 Music Square East, Nashville, TN 37203. A celebration of life service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church, with Pastor Don Finto and Pastor Steve Fry officiating.
