Jane (Mary Jane) Wagner Nashville – Jane (Mary Jane) Wagner died peacefully on October 29 after a long illness at her home in Nashville. She was born on January 8 1931 in Brooklyn, New York to Julia and Edward Smith. She attended Hunter College and worked as a business manager for the Bell Telephone Company both before her marriage in Manhattan to Conrad Wagner and afterward in Ann Arbor, Michigan where she was responsible for the account of the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Jane accompanied her husband to Bethesda, MD after he enlisted in the

Medical Service Corps of the U S. Navy and gave birth to two sons, Peter Jay Wagner and Kurt Frederick Wagner. After the family moved to Nashville in 1961 Jane was active in many Community Affairs including the League of Women Voters, and the school program of the Nashville Symphony. A particular favorite was her work for the Nashville Talking Book Program that recorded stories and newspaper articles for the Blind Jane was a prolific reader especially Poetry.
