Jean was born in Nashville on May 16, 1929 and was the daughter of Campbell and Mayme Jenkins. Jean graduated from David Lipscomb High School in 1948, then attended David Lipscomb Bible College where she met her future husband. Jean was a member of Granny White Church of Christ for most of her adult life.
Jean held various working roles, first as a Secretary for Tennessee Real Estate, where she proved to be dependable and efficient. However, her true calling was her role as a mother and homemaker, where she tirelessly cared for her family, creating a warm and loving home. Following the sudden death of her mother in 1976, Jean went back to school in order to work as a Nursing Technician, working at Donelson Hospital for several years. Later she took on "home care" roles where she cared for geriatric patients, some in their final months of life.
Jean is preceded in death by her beloved brother John Campbell Jenkins, Jr. as well as her parents.
Jean dedicated her life to her family, and her loss leaves a void that can never be filled. She was a loving and devoted mother to her three children: Lowell (Amy), David (Monica), and John (Lori). Jean's nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she was a cherished grandmother to James, Lee, Grayson, Skylar, Zoe, Jonathan, and Kathryn Hagewood and Chase Laurance. Her growing list of great grandchildren include Hudson, Camden and Emry Laurance, as well as Luke and Hallie Hagewood.
Those fortunate enough to have known Jean will remember her as a kind and compassionate woman as well as a hardworking and devoted Mother. Her selflessness touched the lives of many, and she will be missed dearly.
A visitation for Jean will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Woodlawn Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, Tennessee 37204.
