

Nashville, TN - Jerry Clayton passed away suddenly on Friday, February 23. Jerry was born on April 24, 1949 in Lawrenceburg, TN. He is preceded in death by his parents Wylie and Marie Adams Clayton and step-father, M.D. Moore. Jerry is survived by his son, Shane Clayton, daughter-in-law, Julie, and granddaughters, Ellis and Campbell, all of Dallas, TX. He also leaves behind his beloved sister Wanda Alexander of Columbia, TN and his brother Ray Clayton and sister-in-law, Elvina Clayton of Cynthiana, KY as well as his nieces and nephews Victoria Bellino (Kyle), Lori Alexander, Amy Hickman (Steven), Michael Alexander (Ashley), Will Moore, Kristin Clayton and Wylie Clayton. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Vicky, who adored every day with him.
Jerry was a 1967 graduate of Lawrence County High School and attended Tennessee Tech. He spent much of his career in the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency’s Construction and Engineering Department and at Civil Constructors which gave him the opportunity to be a vital part of the construction of several iconic Nashville fixtures including Riverfront Park, the Titans Stadium and Music Row Roundabout to name a few.
He was an avid sports fan from his days of coaching Little League to being a charter Titans and Music City Bowl ticketholder. He was a music lover extraordinaire – everything from jazz, gospel, southern rock to Pavarotti. His day was not complete without working crossword and his devotional. He loved his Lord and Savior and attended West End UMC. And, he loved his dogs
Visitation will be at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home on Thursday, March 1st from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. The service will be held at West End United Methodist Church on Friday, March 2nd at 11 a.m. with visitation an hour preceding at the church.
