Born November 6th 1952 to Halbert Edgar Rogers and Edith Lorraine Rogers in Inglewood California. He was the last to be born, coming 11 years after his oldest brother Steve, and 10 years after middle brother Earl. In 1962 Halbert and Edith divorced. Jerry chose to live with his Father in Sunnyvale, California. Two years after that in 1964 Halbert, then Presbyterian, found the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Halbert and Jerry were baptized soon after. While attending the Sunnyvale church, Halbert met Mary Joyce Lauricella Jones. In 1964 they were married, and Jerry gained 3 younger brothers. Dave, Steve (Little Steve) and Mike. In 1967 Jerry started his high school years at Mountain View Adventist Academy, working a paper route to help pay his way. It was during those Academy years that Jerry would hone some of the hobbies he would carry for the rest of his life, such as playing the saxophone and while working at Pacific Press publishing, becoming fluent in Spanish. In 1971 Jerry headed to Southern Missionary College. While there he met Wanda Faye Smith, and in 1974 they were married. In 1976 Jerry started what would become a lifelong career working for the State of Tennessee in Nashville. In 1982 Jerry returned to school at Volunteer State Community College to get his degree in Computer Science. In February 1984, Jerry and Faye would have their first child, son Brian Keith Rogers. During the rest of the 80's Jerry would add several degrees to help grow his job with the State of Tennessee. 1990 Jerry and Faye would divorce. In 2005 Jerry would marry Brenda Joy Taylor and gain three additional children Bill, Daniel and Lynn. In 2014 Jerry would retire from the State of Tennessee after 35 years.
Jerry will be remembered as a devoted father and loving husband. Always willing to help those around him in need, especially if they needed something fixed. He had a curiosity for how the world worked and what made it go round. He never stopped asking questions and wanting to learn more about anything. An avid photographer, Jerry loved his time out in nature capturing the world around him. In retirement Jerry spent his time working with the Madison church AV team or helping out alongside Joy at the church community outreach 403 center.
