

Jim Hassey, age 59, of Brentwood, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2021. Jim was born March 17, 1962 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late, Dudley Maurice and Martha Sue Ford Hassey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Dudley Maurice and Irene Milligan Hassey and Claude and Bessie Rayburn Ford; uncles and aunts, Donald Ford, Tom Ford, Jo Crosier, Lou Sherrod; his in-laws, Dr. John Talbot Masten, Jr. and Jeanie Lazenby Masten
Jim was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and David Lipscomb University with a degree in Physical Science. While he was a student at Lipscomb, Jim successfully ran a mile, in 4 min and 10 seconds. Jim ran track and was active in sports. Jim was a facility coordinator for Baptist Sports Fitness Center for over 25 years. He participated and organized numerous races while at Baptist. Jim loved competing in various races, including the Boston Marathon, and participated with TEAM Nashville.
Prior to his death, he worked as assistant manager of Ace Hardware in Brentwood. Jim was a Roll Tide Sports fan and he was a NASCAR fan. Jim will be remembered as a loving father, nephew and friend.
He is survived by his son, John Hassey of Franklin, Tennessee and Chandler Hassey of Franklin, Tennessee; aunts and uncles, Claudine Ford of Bellevue, Tennessee, Jim (Zoraida) Ford of Brentwood, Tennessee, Donna White of Bellevue, Tennessee, Jon Hassey of Ft. Myers, Florida and Emily Hassey (Jim) Minnick of La Vergne, Tennessee; A host of cousins and friends. Jack Dugger will officiate.
Pallbearers: Jim Ford, Tom Ford, Andrew Farrell, Jerry White, Brad Haley and Joe Fareed.
