

Joann, known as Memo to her family, was born on December 2, 1936 as an only child to Jonathan Marion Davis and Pauline Bell Davis in Rutherford, Tennessee. She met her lifelong sweetheart, William (Bill) Anderson King, in 1951, and they were married five years later in 1956. A graduate of Cosmetology school, she ran a beauty salon out of their home in Jackson, Tennessee. Following a move to Nashville in 1967, she worked alongside Bill for 32 years building custom King Homes. An award-winning decorator and celebrated designer, Joann was the recipient of “Best In Show” at every Parade of Homes they entered. She had a love for painting, flower arranging, accessorizing and all things creative. She was an active member of The Lord’s Chapel and Brentwood Baptist Church and served her Lord and Savior well.
Joann is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, William Anderson King. She had two children, her daughter, Keila Brandon and husband, Dennis and her son, Jeff King and wife, Sheila. Joann was blessed with grandchildren, Kari Stout (William), Jennifer Orr (Andrew), Rachael Mullins (Josh), Lauren King, Cody King, and Sentayehu Wondemaneh. She also loved her four great grandchildren, Caleb Mullins, Clyde Mullins, Ellis Orr and Arden Orr.
