Joe Morgan Yates, 84, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, was born on October 4, 1941 and passed away on June 27,2026. Joe’s life was marked by steady devotion to those he loved, a faithful spirit, and a compassionate presence that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
For more than 30 years, Joe served as a Firefighter, a calling that reflected both his hard-working nature and his lifelong commitment to others. Beyond his work, he found purpose and satisfaction in wood working, and he took great joy in his dogs and in the closeness of a family-centered life.
Joe spent countless hours at ballfields, faithfully showing up to watch his children and grandchildren play baseball—quiet, enduring moments that spoke to the depth of his love and the strength of his support.
Joe was preceded in death by parents Joe Edd Yates and Edna Pearl Yates, and by his loving and devoted wife, Betty Jean Yates.
Joe is survived by son, Scotty (Kim) Yates; daughter, Tracey Jones (Chuck); grandchildren, Tyler (Kinsli) Jones, Kaitlin (Taige) Crosby and Brittany (Lindsey) Hughes; and great-grandchildren: Ryker Jones, Neyland and Haven Hughes.
The family extends a special thanks to the American House assisted living staff for their care and kindness.
