

Lt. Colonel Joe Carl Youree was born in Nashville, Tennessee on July 15, 1933. He passed peacefully at Lakeshore The Meadows in Bellevue, Tennessee on February 6, 2020 at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Donna; stepchildren, Elizabeth Prohaska, Chris Rigsby, and Tami (Alan) Spoll; grandchildren: Ben and Jayne Prohaska, Kathryn, Matthew, and Andrew Rigsby, Jess, Sam, and Henry Spoll; sister Rebecca Webb; brother Jack (Judy) Youree and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Johnny Edgar and Thelma Grace Youree and his beloved grandmother, Lula McGuire, who raised him and his siblings after the untimely deaths of their parents.
Joe grew up in East Nashville, graduating from East High School in 1951.He earned an accounting degree from University of Tennessee while he served in the 134th Fighter Group at McGheeTyson Air Guard Base. Joe proudly served his country for 46 years retiring from the 118th Tactical Airlift Wing of the Air National Guard as an Intelligence Officer. Later he worked as an auditor for the Tennessee Real Estate Commission.
Joe was a member of Woodmont Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He was an avid Vols fan. He loved coffee and crossword puzzles, and traveling especially Disney Trips with his family.
A celebration of life will be held at Woodmont Baptist Church on Monday, February 10, 2020 at 11:30 am with a gathering of friends and family beginning at 9:30 am.
