

Mr. Miller was born in Birmingham, AL on March 8, 1928 to I.W. and Inez Miller. He attended Phillips High School and Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) where he studied chemical engineering. He began his career at Tennessee Products and Chemical Corporation in Nashville, TN before joining a business making charcoal briquettes in Cookeville, TN. He was President of Cullman Metalcraft in Cullman, AL before returning to Nashville as the President and part owner of Rogers Manufacturing, and ended his career as owner of Tennessee Sheet Metal.
He was active in the Nashville Downtown Rotary Club and a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. He enjoyed travel, playing tennis, and antique cars including a Model A car. In his retirement he enjoyed a bridge group and his ROMEO group (Retired Old Men Eating Out).
He is preceded in death by his brother, I.W. “Top” Miller, and his sister, Ruth Miller Metz.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Peggy Barnes Miller. He is also survived by children Cindy Rhodes (Tommy) of Memphis, TN; Libba Fiser (John) of Clarksdale, MS; Leslie Miller of Jackson, TN; and stepson Trip Boon (Brenda) of Brentwood, TN. He has six grandchildren: Andrew Rhodes (Clair) of Jacksonville, FL; Michael Rhodes (Laura) of Memphis, TN; Rip Fiser (Briana) of Raleigh, NC; Bill Fiser (Amanda) of Houston, TX; Jeffrey Boon of Atlanta, GA; and Ashley Boon of Birmingham, AL.
Gathering of family and friends will be on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from three thirty until six thirty in the afternoon at Calvary United Methodist Church, 3701 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37215. Celebration of Life Service on Friday at eleven o’clock in the morning, with visitation to follow the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to either Calvary United Methodist Church, 3701 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37215 or Alive Hospice, 1710 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203.
