

age 67, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2018 after a brief illness. Jerry was born in Nashville on May 4, 1951 the 2nd of seven children born to John G and Marie (Gentry) Burns and attended St Edward Catholic School. Following in his father’s footsteps he graduated from Father Ryan High School in 1970 and was a star athlete.
He then attended Middle Tennessee State University and held various jobs over the years. He operated Burns Bros. Dairy Farm in Triune during the 1980-90’s and enjoyed milking cows and selling fresh tomatoes and corn. Jerry then moved to Nashville and was owner/operator of the Downtown Shuttle, LLC servicing the Music Valley Drive area. He had an outgoing personality and was known and loved by all who met him. He enjoyed all the tourists and sharing Jesus with others, especially the down trodden.
On Jerry’s journey he struggled with alcohol and drug addiction however was also very kind / generous and loved his family deeply. Thank you to all the addiction counselors, priests and friends who loved and helped Jerry over the years.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Gentry Burns, and grandparents: Will and Jenny Burns and Robert Daniel and Mamie Gentry.
He is survived by his father, John G (Kaye) Burns Sr, Nolensville, TN and sisters: Jan (John) Molteni, Anne (Lee) Lenox, Teresa (James) Creecy and brothers: Alvin (Pam) Burns, Billy Burns and Paul Debo Burns and many loving nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday July 6th at St Edwards Catholic Church, 188 Thompson Lane, with visitation starting at 9 a.m. followed by Mass at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Pallbearers are nephews: Chip, Jimmy and Will Burns,
Fate Thomas Jr, Bill Packard and Gene Rucker.
