Jonathan Dudley Emberton, age 71, passed away on September 14, 2018. He was born on July 7, 1947 in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Elder and Virginia Sorensen Emberton. John was also predeceased by his life partner, Howard J. Tellis. He is survived by a sister, Amy Jill Emberton as well as two nieces and nephews, special friends Suzanne Burns, Jeanne Drone and Cindy Massey and his beloved dog, Lily.
John was a graduate of Antioch High School and Middle Tennessee State University. He spent most of his working years in the furniture business at Elmore’s on Main Street in Franklin, Tennessee.
He loved travel and live theatre. He was an active member with The Pull-Tight Players as an actor and director for over 25 years. He was also a past president of Pull-Tight.
John and Howard hosted numerous epic parties at their home; cast parties, 4th of July pool parties and Halloween parties. They loved opening their home for friends.
John was loved by many. He left a lasting impression on the theatre community in middle Tennessee, as well as the many clients he designed for while at Elmore’s.
A graveside service will be held 10:00am Monday September 24, 2018 at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Phillip Drone, Iain MacPherson, Tim Massey, Jim Tallent, Clay Walker and Steve Evans.
