John W. Hagewood, age 91 passed away on July 14, 2015 at his home in Nashville. Preceded in death by his parents, E. F. Hagewood and Ruth Bell Hagewood and his wife Gene Oliphant Hagewood. Survived by son, Steven Hagewood and daughter, Sally (David) Thompson; brother, Biscoe Hagewood, two grandchildren, Cale and Rachael Thompson, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. John served his country during WWII as a Radio Operator in the US Merchant Marines. He was a two-time survivor of downed ships in the Mediterranean. He also was an amateur musician, and many of his hobbies included woodworking, golf, photography, antiques and he enjoyed Hawaiian music. John was an active contributor to the Crieve Hall Neighborhood Association with many friends. Celebration of Life Service will be on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at one o’clock in the afternoon in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall. A gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday, July 18 from four o’clock until eight o’clock, and from eleven o’clock in the morning until the service at one o’clock on Sunday at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
