John (Johnny) Sidney Oglesby, Jr., age 68, passed away on January 10, 2020 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents John Sidney and Margaret Evelyn Oglesby. He is survived by his loving sister, Joanne (Alfred) Futrell, brother Patrick N. Oglesby and his devoted dog Josie. Surviving aunts include Mary Oglesby Kersey and Joan Varga Consadine. A native Nashvillian, Johnny graduated in 1970 from Stratford High School and then served in the United States Air Force receiving an honorable discharge. He began his 40+ year career as an outside sales representative in the plumbing/heating/cooling industry where he was respected by all his clients for his attention to detail and caring touch. Johnny had a deep love of nature and while hiking always tried to capture the perfect shot to share his passion for photography with his family and friends. He was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed his annual trips to his favorite spots which included Yellowstone National Park, Montana, the Great Smoky Mountains and the Caney Fork River. He could tie the most exquisite flies and built many of his own rods. He enjoyed weekend rides on his Harley Davidson motorcycle, Vanderbilt and Alabama football and the Nashville Predators. He shared a love of music with his brother by attending concerts of their favorite bands. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Tuesday Jan 14th from four o'clock pm until eight o'clock pm and on Wednesday Jan 15th from nine thirty am until eleven thirty am with Celebration of Life services at eleven thirty am at Woodlawn Roesch Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane with Dr. Stephen Handy officiating. Pallbearers include George F. Kersey, Jr., John C. Kersey, David E. Lewis, Jim Cline, John Guest, Glen Woods and Scott Haynes Honorary pall bearers are all his buddies at Fly South and Cumberland Transit where he spent most Saturdays. The family would like to thank the kind staff at Saint Thomas Midtown Inpatient Rehab and Trevecca Center for Health & Rehabilitation for their tender care. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Trout Unlimited (P O Box 7400, Woolly Bugger, WV 25438), the National Park Foundation (110 Vermont Ave, NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC 20005) or the Nashville Humane Association (213 Oceola Ave, Nashville, TN 37209).

Always loved him! He was sales rep when I worked at Dillingham and Smith!! Great man..definitely will be missed!!
