John Walker, affectionately known as “Pops,” age 68, lived a life full of love, laughter, music, and meaningful connections. A proud Nashville native, John had a way of making people feel like old friends, even if they had only just met. He had a big heart, an easy warmth, and a natural gift for connecting with people. He loved unconditionally, and those fortunate enough to know him knew that his love was one of the greatest gifts he gave.
John graduated from McGavock High School before earning his associate degree from Martin Methodist College. He went on to help run the family business for many years, building relationships and contributing to a family legacy. Later, he found success in insurance sales before eventually retiring.
John’s life was measured not just in years or accomplishments, but in the people he loved, the friendships he built, the songs he carried in his heart, and the countless lives he touched along the way. He had a rare ability to make people feel welcome, accepted, and loved exactly as they were.
But above all else, John cherished his family. He is survived by his two children, Ashley and Dusty, and their mother, Cathy Walker. His legacy lives on through his five cherished grandchildren: Emory, Walker, Davis, Charlie, and Ella. He is survived by his siblings, Fred Walker and Jo Ann Greer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Betty Walker, and his sister, Jeannine Davis.
A memorial service celebrating John’s life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, at The Chapel at Brentwood United Methodist Church in Brentwood, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CMA Foundation to support music education.
