Joseph Akin Dawson, born October 1, 1926 and passed away on December 8, 2013. Preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Dawson and Nell McKee Dawson; his wife of 66 years, Joyce Parker Dawson; their only child James Thomas Dawson, and Joe’s twin brother James Dawson.
Joseph was a World War II Veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre. He took part in the invasion of the Philippines; he was on Leyte, Guam and Iwo Jima. Joseph was one of the first to service in the newly formed Army Air Corp. Joseph worked with several businesses in Nashville in sales and also worked several years with the Nashville Flying Service.
Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday December 12th at one o’clock in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall, visitation with family and friends from eleven o’clock until the time of service at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
