Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Friday November 9th and Saturday November 10th 10:00 to 11:30 am at Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am Saturday at Woodlawn Funeral Home with Joe McKnight officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Joyce Carol Purcell was born in Jeffersonville, IN to William Bryan (Roscoe) and Mary McDowell on October 9, 1934. She married W. Bruce Purcell on July 23, 1952 in Nashville, TN.
Joyce was an outstanding daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and the perfect family member. She and her family were also very successful entrepreneurs across the United States and other countries.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband of 31 years W. Bruce Purcell. In addition, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert and Patricia McDowell of Nashville, TN, Charles and Elizabeth McDowell of Mount Juliet, TN and Bryan (Bud) McDowell of Nashville, TN.
Her father and mother-in-law, Orb and Nell Purcell of Lawrenceburg, TN also preceded her whom she loved very much.
Joyce was also preceded in death by several cats and dogs that she loved dearly. Her cats were Sugar and Sam and her dogs were Sonny, Buddy, Mack times 2, Dixie and her beloved Lilith. Joyce is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Carol Ann and John W. Fortune of Thompson Station, TN, one son and daughter-in-law Randall B. and Michelle Marie Purcell of Franklin, TN. Her grandchildren include grandsons William Bryan and his wife, Alena Pursell of Antioch, TN, Benjamin Bradford Pursell of Austin, TX, John Randall Purcell of Bloomington, IN and granddaughter Danielle Marie Purcell of Minneapolis, MN.
Joyce was also blessed with one great grandson, William Bryan Pursell ll. She was also very close to her sister-in-law and friend, Carolyn Purcell.
Joyce has two surviving pets, Layla and Roy.
Pallbearers will be William Bryan Pursell, Benjamin Bradford Pursell, John Randall Purcell, Nico Sassi, James (Booty) Purcell and Joe Purcell.
The family has designated Avalon Hospice and The Williamson County Animal Control for memorial contributions.
