On June 11, 2019, Katherine Ann Porter Hill, 80, went home to be with the Lord with grace and dignity after a mercifully brief medical illness. She lived well each day, enjoying all that life had to offer and always giving of herself to those she loved and to every one she met. She was an ever loving wife, mother, grandmother (Mimi), daughter, sister, aunt but most of all, she was a best friend to so many. Kathy was born and raised in East Nashville and attended David Lipscomb High School. She also attended Abilene Christian University. She graduated from the Flight Stewardess Corp for American Airlines in 1958. She met and married Air Force Strategic Air Command, Captain Robert Lenoir Hill, of Blairsville, GA, in August of 1959. After living in Athens, GA and Knoxville, TN, they settled in Nashville in 1972. Kathy’s love and passion were always and foremost her family. Her love, her smiles, and her laughter will always remain with her husband, her daughters, her grandchildren and that large extended family of friends that she never lost touch with over the years. Survivors include her husband and soulmate of 60 years, Robert (Bob) Hill, daughters Sally Hill (Vance) Hudgins of Dickson, TN, Margaret Hill (Ted) Echols of Warrenton, NC, Ellen Hill (David) Costello of Franklin, TN, and Jennifer Hill of Chattanooga, TN; and her so beloved nine grandchildren, Tyler and Henley Hudgins, Edie and Tom Echols, Kate, Trip and Jean Costello and Libby and Margaret Pooler; her beloved sisters Betty (Nick) Kirincich of Franklin, TN, and Joan (Leon) Carter, Knoxville, TN, and many loving nieces and nephews . Her mother and father, Mildred and John Lipscomb Porter preceded her in death. Pallbearers include her three beloved grandsons, Tyler Hudgins, Trip Costello, and Tom Echols, and three beloved nephews, Cameron Hill, Lookout Mountain, TN, Trey Dickson, Knoxville, TN and Cooper Hill, Cleveland, TN.
Honorary Pallbearers include Dr. John Bright Cage, Shelia and Gary Clark, LeEllen and Stan Ezell, Melissa and Stewart Fraiser, The Beloved “Florida Group”, Dr. Henry Harrell, and Kimberly and Kevin Wells.
